Don't tell Bryce Harper he's jealous.

In his first season away from the Washington Nationals since breaking into the majors as a teenage phenom in 2012, Harper's former team claimed its first World Series title.

It led some to speculate whether the outfielder, who inked a record-breaking 13-year, $330-million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies last winter, was jealous of his former teammates. The 2015 NL MVP wants everyone to know that nothing could be further from the truth.

"I think the misconception right now is, 'Oh, he's so jealous, he's so hurt that he left the Nationals,'" Harper said during an appearance on the "Starting 9" podcast. "I couldn't be more happy for those guys because those are the guys that I grinded with for the first seven years of my career.

"You know, they're winning a world championship and I'm at the point in my life where I am so happy to be in Philly."

While the Nationals overcame the loss of Harper by winning the Fall Classic, the Phillies missed the postseason for an eighth straight season.

The 27-year-old slugger started the campaign cold, even getting booed by the home crowd, but wound up hitting .260/.372/.510 with 35 homers and 114 RBIs over 157 games.
