Maple Leafs to include Robertson on expanded playoff roster
The Toronto Maple Leafs will include top prospect Nick Robertson on their expanded playoff roster, general manager Kyle Dubas said Wednesday, according to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston.
Clubs will reportedly be permitted to carry 28 skaters and as many goalies as they desire if play eventually resumes under the 24-team playoff format.
Robertson, 18, played with the OHL's Peterborough Petes in 2019-20, recording 55 goals and 86 points in 46 games.
"Nick is a person who is as committed as anyone I've seen at that age," Dubas said, according to TSN's Kristen Shilton.
Dubas added that while it may merely be a learning situation for Robertson, he does have the chance to carve out a roster spot, per Yahoo Sports' Justin Cuthbert.
"I don't think it has hit me yet. I've definitely every day been thinking about it," Robertson said, according to Johnston. "Whatever happens I'm just fortunate for the opportunity and experience."
The Maple leafs drafted Robertson 53rd overall in 2019.
