A love letter penned by Michael Jordan during the 1989 Eastern Conference finals was auctioned off Sunday for over $25,000.

The 20-page letter, which was sold by Iconic Auctions, was addressed to a then-23-year-old actress named Amy Hunter, according to Darren Rovell of Action Network. It was written on stationery from the Guest Quarters Suite in Troy, Michigan, where the Chicago Bulls stayed during their playoff series against the Detroit Pistons.

Although the letter is postmarked July 11, 1989, the auction house notes that it was likely written two months prior. Jordan married Juanita Vanoy - his first wife and the mother of his three children, Jeffrey, Marcus, and Jasmine - in September 1989.

"Amy, if I was Michael Jordan, the ordinary man with a 9-5 job, then it wouldn't be hard to admit my mistake. But instead, I am the Michael Jordan who is put on the pedestal and viewed to be the perfect role model," the letter reads.

"A lot of people, not just kids, but whole families," Jordan continues. "Can you imagine the responsibilities that I have to deal with. Not to mention a baby by a lady who I have loved for 3 1/2 years."

Iconic Auctions president Jeff Woolf said Hunter sold the letter to a private collector about 17 years ago. The letter was auctioned off in 2014 for $2,560, and then later cosigned to Iconic.
