Floyd Mayweather Jr. has agreed to cover the funeral expenses for George Floyd, who was killed in police custody in Minneapolis last week, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe told Steve Kim of ESPN.

The retired boxer told Hollywood Unlocked CEO Jason Lee that he reached out to Floyd's family and has committed to pay for funeral services in Houston, Minnesota, Charlotte, and another location that has yet to be determined, according to Kecia Gayle of Hollywood Unlocked.

Ellerbe added that Floyd's family accepted the offer.

Mayweather made the offer after learning that Anzel Jennings, CEO of TMT Music Group, grew up with Floyd, TMZ Sports reports.

Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in Floyd's death.
