With the 32nd pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, the Kansas City Royals selected Nick Loftin, a shortstop from Baylor.
Undrafted out of high school as a shortstop and pitcher, Loftin was moved to the outfield to begin his collegiate career. He quickly proved his defensive value, however, and was moved back to short. Now, after three years of development, Loftin is widely considered the top shortstop in the 2020 college class.
