Mets select Mississippi State right-hander J.T. Ginn No. 52 overall
With the 52nd pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, the New York Mets selected J.T. Ginn, a sophomore right-hander out of Mississippi State.
Ginn, a top pitching prospect in high school, was the Los Angeles Dodgers' first-round pick (30th overall) in 2018. He turned them down to pitch at Mississippi State.
Ginn was named both SEC and National Freshman of the Year in 2019 while helping Mississippi State reach the College World Series. He issued two or fewer walks in 16 of his 17 starts and finished second on the team with 105 strikeouts.
Tommy John surgery halted Ginn's sophomore season after just one start.
