Toronto's rising basketball community profiled in 'True North'
2019 was a historic year for basketball in Canada, as the Toronto Raptors won their first championship and a record number of Canadians were selected in the first round of the NBA draft.
Ahead of the anniversary of the Raptors' championship run, a new feature-length cut of director Ryan Sidhoo's 2018 documentary "True North" has been released. The 90-minute film, co-presented by Red Bull Media House and the National Film Board of Canada, examines the rise of Toronto basketball through the stories of 2023 top prospect Elijah Fisher, 15-year-old Keone Davis, and 18-year-old Cordell Veira.
The updated cut incorporates the Raptors' NBA title and provides updates about some of the original participants. It also includes interviews with Steve Nash, Jamal Murray, and former Raptors Damon Stoudamire and Cory Joseph.
