Report: Postponed MLS match to potentially be played Monday

Toronto FC and D.C. United could face off Monday morning after their match Sunday was postponed due to uncertainty over COVID-19 test results from both teams, according to Steven Goff of the Washington Post.

The two teams were minutes away from taking the pitch before it was announced that the match was being postponed after D.C. United reported a positive coronavirus test and Toronto had one player receive an inconclusive result.

Although further tests on both players returned negative results, they will be required to undergo another round of testing, Goff adds.

It's unclear what impact a positive result for either player will have on MLS's decision to go ahead with plans to play Monday.

Moving the match to Monday could have an impact on TFC's second match of the MLS is Back Tournament, as the 2017 league champions are scheduled to take on the Montreal Impact on Wednesday.

D.C. United's second game is on Thursday against the New England Revolution.
