Report: West Ham won't swap Rice for Chelsea's Barkley, Batshuayi
West Ham United are adamant that Declan Rice is not for sale in the close season and will therefore not entertain any swap deals for their midfielder, according to The Guardian's Jacob Steinberg.
Chelsea are reportedly exploring the possibility of including Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi as makeweights in a transaction for Rice, but West Ham will turn down any such offer.
It's understood that West Ham or manager David Moyes have previously been interested in the Chelsea pair. Barkley, who was given his debut at Everton by Moyes, was subject of a loan approach from West Ham in January, while Batshuayi opted to join Chelsea over the Irons in 2016. The Belgian international is still not keen on joining the east London club.
West Ham have put a hefty price tag on Rice, whose contract runs until 2024. Although the player is believed to be open to a move across town, the duration of his deal and his importance to the club means that West Ham will dig their heels over a transfer. Steinberg previously reported the Hammers are asking for at least £70 million for Rice and believes there are plenty of other players that West Ham are looking to offload this summer.
Among those potentially headed for the exit are Felipe Anderson, Fabian Balbuena, Manuel Lanzini, Andriy Yarmolenko, and Grady Diangana, the latter of whom has impressed during a loan spell with the Championship's West Bromwich Albion this season.
West Ham are reportedly looking at Queens Park Rangers attacker Eberechi Eze and Wigan Athletic duo Antonee Robinson and Cedric Kipre to potentially freshen up their squad.
