A rare Mike Trout rookie baseball card has the potential to set a new record when it goes up for auction Tuesday.

The starting bid for the one-of-a-kind, autographed card has been set at $1 million by Goldin Auctions, according to ESPN's Tom VanHaaren. The card, part of the 2009 Bowman Chrome Draft Prospects Superfractor series, has been graded a Mint 9 by Beckett Grading Services and has an autograph issue logo confirming the signature's authenticity.

Goldin sold a Trout Red Refractor card for $922,500 in May, setting a modern-day card record. That record was broken Saturday when a LeBron James card was auctioned off for $1.8 million.

Goldin Auctions founder Ken Goldin believes the Trout card could become the most valuable baseball card in history.

"We have the record for the most valuable trading card ever sold with the T206 Honus Wagner card that sold for $3.12 million back in September of 2016, and we believe this Trout card can surpass that record," he said.

The Trout card previously sold for $400,000 on eBay in 2018, notes VanHaaren.
