Nowitzki featured in George W. Bush's new portrait book
Dallas Mavericks great Dirk Nowitzki is one of the subjects of a forthcoming book of portraits by former United States President George W. Bush.
Nowitzki appears on the cover of "Out of Many, One: Portraits of America's Immigrants," which features portraits of 43 individuals - all painted by Bush - and their accompanying stories. The book will go on sale on March 21, 2021.

Born in Wurzburg, Germany, Nowitzki came to the U.S. after he was selected ninth overall in 1998 NBA Draft. He and his Swedish-born wife, Jessica, started the process of becoming U.S. citizens in 2019.
"We're in the process of getting a green card," Nowitzki told Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News last June. "So once we accomplish that, then you have to be a green-card holder for, I think, over five years before you can even think about doing that (becoming a U.S. citizen). So we're going to do that and see how it goes. But obviously our (three) kids were born here and they all have U.S. passports and the wifey and I have been on a visa for the last few years."
Nowitzki spent his entire 21-year NBA career in Dallas and still resides in the city.
