Jason Wright: It took 30 seconds to receive 'Redwolves propaganda'
Jason Wright was announced as the new president of the Washington Football Team on Monday, and it didn't take long for him to learn about the strong fan support behind the Redwolves - the club's potential new name.
"Within 30 seconds of being announced, someone blew up my Twitter with Redwolves propaganda," Wright said on the "Washington Football Team Talk" podcast.
"This is a very aggressive campaign around Redwolves, which is wonderful. The passion is fantastic - and that's what's kept this franchise afloat, frankly. You have fans that are so engaged on this and we are absolutely going to harness this."
Recent polls conducted by NBC Sports Washington and Morning Consult show that Redwolves is among the favorite potential name replacements for Washington along with Warriors and Redtails.
"Whenever we land might piss some folks up, I have no idea, but my guess is if we do it right everybody will understand how the process went," Wright said. "They will have seen their input go into some aspect of the new identity."
Washington retired its name and logo in July following pressure from FedEx, which owns the naming rights to the team's stadium, and other sponsors.
