Clippers' Morris tossed for hard foul on Doncic
Los Angeles Clippers big man Marcus Morris was assessed a flagrant-2 foul and ejected for a hard swipe at Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic in the first quarter of Game 6 on Sunday.
Doncic was attempting to drive to the basket when he was impeded by Morris, who then smacked the Mavericks sophomore's head immediately after the whistle was blown to stop play.
Referees launched a video review, which resulted in Morris being assessed a flagrant 2, earning him his ejection.
Clippers head coach Doc Rivers didn't believe the foul warranted an ejection and defended Morris during the first-quarter intermission.
"I think he got ejected because he's Marcus, to be honest," he told ESPN's Cassidy Hubbarth. "I thought he made a play on the ball and his hand followed through. It happens in every game but we can't worry about that. We got to play better."
It isn't the first incident between the two during the series. In Game 5, Morris stepped on Doncic's ankle that he sprained in Game 3. Morris said it wasn't intentional and that he apologized after it occurred.
Morris and Doncic also had a minor altercation in Game 1 when the two exchanged words after getting wrapped up during a stoppage. Mavericks forward Kristaps Porzingis was then controversially assessed his second technical foul of the game and ejected after stepping in to defend Doncic from Morris.
