Report: Inter Miami 'very close' to signing Juve outcast Higuain
Gonzalo Higuain is on the verge of becoming the second player to make the switch from Turin to Miami.
The Argentine striker, who is expected to leave Juventus this summer, is "very close" to signing a contract to join David Beckham's Inter Miami, a source told ESPN FC's Jeff Carlisle.
New Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo revealed in August that Higuain is not in his plans for the upcoming Serie A season. The Italian club is also reportedly working toward terminating the player's contract.
Inter Miami reportedly reached an agreement with D.C United to acquire Higuain's discovery rights - which gives clubs a right of first refusal - before they were permitted to conduct contract negotiations with the 32-year-old, according to Pablo Maurer of The Athletic.
If Inter Miami complete the signing, Higuain will be the second Juventus player to join the MLS club - co-owned by Beckham - this summer following the arrival of Blaise Matuidi on a free transfer in August.
Higuain started his career at River Plate before he arrived in Spain to join Real Madrid. He was sold to Napoli after six years in Madrid and evolved into one of the world's top forwards during a successful spell in Italy.
Juventus signed Higuain from Napoli for €90 million the summer after he finished the 2015-16 season as Serie A's top scorer. But his struggles in Turin resulted in loan spells at Milan and Chelsea before he was given a chance to revive his Juve career last season.
His older brother, Federico, also plays in MLS with D.C. United.
