Gunler played limited minutes on one of the best teams in Sweden's top league during the 2019-20 season. A year prior, he notched an impressive 27 goals in Sweden's junior league.
He boasts high-end skills all over the ice, having shown off his elite passing and scoring talent over the last two years. Playing among men in Sweden's top division helped him mature his game, and he's shown he can be a legitimate offensive threat while also playing a solid defensive game.
What they're saying
"He's a talented goal-scorer who has the ability to score in multiple ways," wrote TSN's Craig Button. "Has been wildly inconsistent, but as he matures, his goal-scoring skills could prove to be very valuable."
"Gunler is a high-end passer and shooter. He shows great vision and patience, holding pucks and finding teammates through seams," wrote The Athletic's Corey Pronman. "He shows good creativity on his entries with flashes of top-end skill. He has a very hard shot and projects as a legit mid-distance shooter. The combination of his shot and vision makes him a threat inside the offensive zone and on the power play. Off the puck, his game is just OK."
