Report: Rockets, Wizards discussing Westbrook-Wall trade

The Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards are discussing a potential trade involving guards Russell Westbrook and John Wall as the deal's centerpieces, The Athletic's Shams Charania reports.

There isn't any traction yet between the two clubs, Charania adds, as the Rockets continue to seek more assets.

Westbrook reportedly informed the Rockets last week he wants to move on from the organization after one season. The 32-year-old will earn $85.6 million guaranteed over the next two campaigns, and then he can exercise his $47.1-million player option for the 2022-23 season.

Meanwhile, Wall last appeared in an NBA contest on Dec. 26, 2018. Following his heel surgery, Wall's torn Achilles tendon was also repaired after he suffered the injury in February 2019. The five-time All-Star has been rehabbing since then.

Like Westbrook's deal, Wall's contract is one of the more lucrative pacts in the Association. The former No. 1 pick can earn up to $132.9 million over the remainder of his agreement if he exercises his player option.
