Report: John Wall seeking trade from Wizards
Washington Wizards point guard John Wall has made it clear he wants the organization to trade him, The Athletic's Shams Charania reports.
Wall can earn over $132 million during the final three seasons of his contract. He hasn't played in a game for nearly two years after rupturing his left Achilles tendon, meaning any team that trades for him is taking a significant risk. The 30-year-old's last appearance came in a loss to the Detroit Pistons on Dec. 26, 2018.
The floor general's name recently emerged in trade talks between the Wizards and Houston Rockets involving fellow point guard Russell Westbrook, but those discussions have since stalled, Charania reports. Westbrook is set to earn $41.3-million next season, which is slightly more than Wall's $41.2-million salary for 2020-21.
Wall has produced impressive career averages of 19 points, 9.2 assists, and 1.7 steals in 573 games. Before being hit with the injury bug, the Kentucky product appeared in five consecutive All-Star Games from 2013 to 2018.
