The retooling of the Philadelphia 76ers continued Friday evening with the organization announcing it waived shooting guard Marial Shayok and center Norvel Pelle.
Shayok, the No. 54 pick in the 2019 draft, only played 28 total minutes at the NBA level last season. However, the 6-foot-5 Canadian excelled in the G League, averaging 22.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game, with 35.8% shooting on long balls. He had been on a two-way contract.
The undrafted Pelle saw slightly more action as a deep-bench reserve with the 76ers last season, tallying 2.4 points, three boards, and 1.3 blocks in just under 10 minutes per game across 24 appearances. He's the first person born in Antigua and Barbuda to appear in an NBA game.
