Kaepernick only played one snap against the Philadelphia Eagles on October 2, 2011, handing the ball off to Frank Gore. The Nevada product made his first NFL start the following season after Alex Smith suffered a concussion.
The jersey previously belonged to Aaron Prince, a reporter and friend of the Kaepernick family, according to NBC Bay Area. Prince stated last year he hoped to see the jersey end up in a place where it could bring awareness to Kaepernick's continued social justice efforts.
