Bucks co-owner Aaron Rodgers 'pretty ecstatic' about Giannis contract
Green Bay Packers quarterback and Milwaukee Bucks minority owner Aaron Rodgers is happy Giannis Antetokounmpo will be staying in Wisconsin for at least the next five years.
Rodgers weighed in on Antetokounmpo's contract extension Tuesday on "The Pat McAfee Show," noting that the Bucks' offseason moves may have played a role in the Greek Freak's decision to re-sign with the team.
"It's a big signing for us. We're pretty ecstatic - I guess he is as well, I would assume," Rodgers said. "This is just conjecture, but I know that he was interested in what the roster turnover was going to be. (Milwaukee) made some moves in the offseason, brought in some players. I guess he's happy with them so far.
"We still have a couple important pieces from our run last year that got interrupted by COVID after we were the No. 1 team in the league and on a big-time roll, who cares?" Rodgers joked. "But hopefully we can keep rolling for the next five years. We got the man back and he's still, what, 25?"
Antetokounmpo, who turned 26 earlier this month, signed a $228-million extension that will keep him under contract with the Bucks through the 2024-25 season. It's the largest contract in NBA history.
