Report: Chiefs' Bell, Watkins expected to be active for Super Bowl LV
Kansas City Chiefs running back Le'Veon Bell and wide receiver Sammy Watkins are expected to be active for Super Bowl LV, sources told ESPN's Dianna Russini.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, meanwhile, are expected to see the return of wide receiver Antonio Brown and safety Antoine Winfield Jr., adds Russini.
All four players missed their team's conference-championship victory this past Sunday.
Watkins hasn't played since Week 16 after suffering an ankle injury. Injuries have plagued the 27-year-old throughout the campaign, including a sore hamstring and a calf issue. The veteran played in 10 games, hauling in 37 receptions for 421 yards and two touchdowns.
Bell, who's dealing with a knee injury, has been relatively quiet since his arrival in Kansas City after the New York Jets released him. The former All-Pro tailback hasn't been given a significant increase in usage with the Chiefs. In nine games with the AFC Champions, Bell has logged 254 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
For the Bucs, Winfield suffered a late-week ankle injury in practice ahead of Tampa Bay's NFC title game against the Green Bay Packers. He was ruled out for the contest after going through warmups.
Brown left the Buccaneers' divisional-round matchup against the New Orleans Saints due to a knee injury. The versatile wideout didn't practice prior to this past Sunday's tilt. In eight regular-season games with Tampa Bay, Brown has tallied 45 receptions for 483 yards and four touchdowns.
Tampa Bay's other safety Jordan Whitehead recorded two forced fumbles before leaving Sunday's game with a shoulder injury. The 23-year-old had an MRI on Monday, but it's too early to tell whether he'll be available for the Super Bowl, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine.
