Vegas Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon will take over the club's coaching duties as its staff isolates "out of an abundance of caution," the team announced Tuesday.
The news comes hours before the Golden Knights are set to take on the St. Louis Blues at 9 p.m. ET. McCrimmon will be joined by members of the AHL's coaching staff behind the bench.
McCrimmon has a lengthy coaching history outside of the NHL. He served as the bench boss of the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings from 1990-92, 2004-11, and 2013-16. McCrimmon won the WHL Championship in his final campaign with the team.
The Golden Knights have won five of their six games this season under head coach Peter DeBoer. It's unclear how long McCrimmon will take over coaching duties.
