Noah Syndergaard is launching a book club to celebrate his newest hobby.

The New York Mets pitcher announced the creation of Noah's Book Club on Wednesday with a photo showing him reading "What Doesn't Kill Us" by Scott Carney while sitting in an ice bath.

Syndergaard was inspired to start the book club after all the reading he's done while rehabbing from surgery he underwent last March.

"I've been reading a lot of books while recovering from my Tommy John surgery and thought it could be cool to share this new hobby with everyone," he told Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News. "I've learned a lot from all of these books about recovery techniques, leadership, leaning on my inner strength, and simply that it's fun.

"I hope to further promote literacy, learn more, and have a good time reading with my fans."

A person familiar with the new club told Thosar that Syndergaard will unveil a new book each month on social media and invite fans to read along with him. He also plans to invite authors to take part in conversations about their books.
