Giants sign Golladay to reported 4-year, $72M deal
The top free-agent wide receiver is off the market, as Kenny Golladay signed with the New York Giants, the team announced Saturday.
Golladay will receive a four-year, $72-million contract that could reach $76 million, and it includes $40-million guaranteed, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. The deal puts him just outside of the top five highest-payed players at his position in average annual value.
A number of suitors were pursuing the 27-year-old. He received a contract offer from the Cincinnati Bengals and scheduled visits with the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens.
Golladay spent the first four years of his career with the Detroit Lions, who surprisingly didn't use the franchise tag on him last month. He battled a hip injury last season, but the wideout led the NFL with 11 receiving touchdowns in 2019 to go along with 65 catches and 1,190 yards.
The 2017 third-round pick isn't an elite athlete, but he specializes in contested catches and is effective in the red zone.
Golladay joins a Giants team that prioritized adding weapons for quarterback Daniel Jones this offseason. The club's offense already features Saquon Barkley, Darius Slayton, Evan Engram, and Sterling Shepard.
