Report: Aaron Gordon formally requested trade from Magic
Aaron Gordon has wanted out of Orlando since last month.
The Magic forward formally requested a trade from the team in February, The Athletic's Jared Weiss and Sam Amick report.
Orlando has held serious discussions with the Houston Rockets involving Gordon, with the Magic seeking two first-round picks in exchange for the athletic 25-year-old, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania. No deal between Orlando and Houston is imminent right now.
The Magic are unlikely to part with Gordon unless they receive at least two first-rounders, or a pick along with a good young player, Weiss and Amick add.
Gordon is also reluctant to join a rebuilding squad and only desires a move to a potential playoff team, Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes reports.
In addition to Houston, the Boston Celtics have also held trade talks involving Gordon. Boston notably has a $28.5-million trade exception available to use after dealing Gordon Hayward to Charlotte this past offseason.
The Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, and Portland Trail Blazers are also interested in Gordon, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Gordon is earning $18.1 million this season. He'll then pocket $16.4 million during the 2021-22 campaign before hitting unrestricted free agency next summer.
