Ranking the best goalies through Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs

With the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the books, theScore counts down the top five players of the postseason so far in all three positional groups. Players on eliminated teams are eligible for this list, as these rankings are explicitly based on cumulative performances from the first two rounds.

5. Connor Hellebuyck, Winnipeg Jets

After sweeping the Edmonton Oilers in the first round, Hellebuyck was on the other end of a sweep courtesy of the Montreal Canadiens in the second round. The reigning Vezina Trophy winner was fantastic against the Oilers but returned to earth somewhat against the Habs. While he couldn't steal a game for the Jets, he made big save after big save and did his best to keep his team alive against a surprisingly lethal Canadiens attack.

4. Ilya Sorokin, New York Islanders

Sorokin was the hero in Round 1, but the Islanders rode the hot hand in Semyon Varlamov against the Boston Bruins to punch a ticket to Round 3. Both goaltenders have played mostly great during the postseason and are huge reasons why the Islanders are still alive, but Sorokin's numbers are superior. He's been especially dominant at even strength, leading all playoff goalies with an outstanding .950 save percentage in those situations.

3. Marc-Andre Fleury, Vegas Golden Knights

Fleury, surprisingly, wasn't tested a ton by the Colorado Avalanche in the second round, but he's still provided reliable goaltending behind the Golden Knights' balanced offense. He's let in a few soft goals, but he's also made saves when they're needed most. He leads all goalies in the playoffs with an .893 save percentage on high-danger scoring chances.

2. Carey Price, Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens didn't need Price to play out of his mind to secure the sweep in Round 2. Montreal seems to have found another gear in every facet of the game, which has made Price's life a whole lot easier in the net. With his team playing incredible hockey in front of him, the 33-year-old has remained calm in the crease and looks just about as locked in as he has at any point in his career.

1. Andrei Vasilevskiy, Tampa Bay Lightning

The defending Stanley Cup Champions seemingly took care of the top-seeded Carolina Hurricanes with ease in Round 2. Vasilevskiy played a pivotal role, helping shut down Carolina's potent offense. The Vezina Trophy nominee is extremely tough to beat, and the fact that he's playing behind such an incredible Lightning team is simply unfair.
