Pippen holding on to beef with Barkley: He 'plays his role like he's tough'
There appears to be some lingering tension between Scottie Pippen and Charles Barkley.
The beef between the former Rockets teammates dates back to 1999, when Barkley expressed disappointment over Pippen leaving Houston after just one season. Pippen refused to apologize at the time and said Barkley owed him an apology "for coming to play with his fat butt." Barkley responded by joking about getting "arrested for murder" if Pippen didn't apologize.
Over a decade later, Pippen still hasn't apologized and it doesn't sound like he has any intention of doing so.
"I never apologized to him, but I'll tell you what: he only got arrested for throwing some little white guys out of a window," Pippen said in an interview with Tyler R. Tynes of GQ. "I ain't never seen him fight a Black man unless there were referees around. He plays his role like he's tough. I don't know nobody he done whooped. Go back and check his record. Did I apologize to him? I told him to get me the hell out of there. That's what I recall."
The Rockets went 31-19 during Pippen's lone season with the team and lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs. Pippen was later traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.
