Kidd apparently punished Bucks because 1 player had Android phone

Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd apparently takes team group chats very seriously.

In an excerpt from the upcoming book "Giannis: The Improbable Rise of an NBA MVP," author Mirin Fader recalled how, in 2014 during Kidd's stint as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, he punished the entire team because one player had an Android phone that caused issues for the group chat.

"At one point, center Thon Maker didn't have an iPhone, messing up the team's blue-bubble iPhone group chat," the excerpt reads, according to Jackson Thompson of Business Insider. "Kidd was upset about it and made the team run because Kidd felt that Maker not getting an iPhone was an example of the team not being united."

Kidd led the Bucks to a 139-152 record in his three-plus seasons with the team. The Mavs hired him in June after he spent the last two years as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Lakers.
