Report: Rockets to work with Wall on finding new team

The Houston Rockets and John Wall have agreed to work together on finding a new team for the five-time All-Star, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Wall will reportedly remain around the Rockets once training camp begins in two weeks but will not play in any further games with Houston.

With a $47.4-million player option for 2022-23, Wall is owed a combined $91.7 million on the rest of his contract. However, the Rockets have no plans to buy out the veteran guard, Charania notes.

Houston reportedly informed Wall in a recent meeting that it aims to keep him healthy while the organization continues its rebuild.

After he missed the entire 2019-20 season due to a torn Achilles, the Washington Wizards traded Wall to Houston in December in exchange for Russell Westbrook.

In his lone season with the Rockets, Wall tallied 20.6 points, 6.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.1 steals. However, he was again bothered by injuries; he played in just 40 of the team's 72 games, and a hamstring strain caused him to be shut down for Houston's final 12 contests of the regular season.
