LeBron: 'Weird dynamic' to play against son's ex-high school teammate
LeBron James admits it was a strange feeling sharing an NBA court with Bronny's former high school teammate Ziaire Williams.
Williams, the 10th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, played alongside James' eldest son during his senior year at Sierra Canyon and helped lead the school to a Southern Section Open Division title. On Sunday night, he faced James for the first time as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies.
"I looked at Ziaire a couple times and I was just shaking my head inside," James told reporters after the game. "Just remembering like really like a year and a half ago, two years - not even full two years - he was hitting the game-winner to send them to the state championship alongside my son. And going to the game and supporting Sierra Canyon, and one year at Stanford and now he's here.
"It's a weird dynamic for myself to see something like that, but happy for the kid, obviously. But I had a moment for sure."
James' Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Grizzlies 121-118 to pick up their first win of the season.
