Kobe's shooting shirt from 81-point game sells for $277K at auction
A Los Angeles Lakers shooting shirt worn by Kobe Bryant before his 81-point performance against the Toronto Raptors fetched $277,200 at auction last week.
The shirt, which was sold by Sotheby's, is believed to be the only Bryant-worn item from the Jan. 22, 2006, game to make its way to auction. Bryant wore the shirt at least five other times, including during the first round of the 2006 Western Conference playoffs.
The buyer has been identified as SCP Auctions president David Kohler, who owns one of the world's largest private Lakers memorabilia collections.
"After collecting Kobe Bryant memorabilia throughout many years, I am thrilled and honored to add this very special artifact from one of the most significant games in NBA history to my collection," Kohler told TMZ Sports.
Bryant's 81 points are the second-highest single-game total in NBA history behind Wilt Chamberlain's 100 points.
