Report: Ravens, Marcus Williams agree to 5-year, $70M deal

The Baltimore Ravens and former New Orleans Saints safety Marcus Williams are in agreement on a five-year deal worth $70 million, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

The deal includes $37 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Williams was widely viewed as the top safety on the free-agent market. The 25-year-old spent five seasons with the Saints, playing the last on the franchise tag. New Orleans wanted to keep Williams but didn't have the financial flexibility to re-sign him.

The Ravens dove into the safety market after deploying DeShon Elliott and Brandon Stephens next to Chuck Clark last season.

Williams has been one of the NFL's top coverage safeties throughout his career. He's had multiple interceptions every season and limited quarterbacks to a 54.2 passer rating when targeted last year. He'll give Baltimore a star-studded secondary to combat the high-flying offenses in the AFC.

Williams represents the latest high-profile investment Baltimore has made in the safety position. The Ravens have spent big on the likes of Ed Reed, Tony Jefferson, Eric Weddle, and Earl Thomas in the past.
