Durant's KD15 sneaker unveiled
Nike officially unveiled Kevin Durant's newest signature sneaker, the KD15, on Monday.
The Brooklyn Nets star opted to go with a low-cut design for the KD15, pulling inspiration from retro models like the 2001 Nike Air Jet Flight.
"I know you remember the low-top joints that Luke Ridnour and Steve Nash used to wear, the Jet Flights," Durant told Nick DePaula of The Boardroom. "That was one of the first shoes that I (saw) as a basketball player coming up that was super low and looked almost like a trainer. That was interesting to me, and I wanted to bring that feel back."
The KD15 will release this summer in a primarily black-and-blue colorway dubbed "Beginnings," which Durant debuted in Game 1 of the Nets' first-round playoff series against the Boston Celtics. Durant said music will be a central theme for future colorways of the shoe.
"Music, art, and basketball, to me, I feel like it's all the same art form," he said. "Last shoe, I did a lot of art stuff. This shoe, we're doing more with music and trying to combine the three. It's something that resonates with me, and I try to incorporate it in my shoe."
