First NFL-licensed VR game to release in the fall
A new virtual reality game is giving fans the opportunity to become an NFL quarterback.
NFL PRO ERA, the league's first officially-licensed game for VR platforms, is scheduled to release this fall, according to ESPN's Michael Rothstein. The game will debut on Meta Quest and PlayStation VR.
StatusPRO, a company co-founded by former NFL wide receiver Andrew Hawkins and former college quarterback Troy Jones, is developing the game. Their goal is for fans to understand what a signal-caller experiences when they're at the line of scrimmage and executing a snap.
"In the experience, you're able to play quarterback in an NFL game," Hawkins told Rothstein. "You're able to make the decisions."
The NFL Players Association has also licensed NFL PRO ERA, which will allow for the use of players' names and likenesses. The game will depict players with accurate body types, numbers, and statistics.
