Aston Villa agree to sign Diego Carlos from Sevilla for reported £26M
Aston Villa are set to reinforce their defense after reaching an agreement with Sevilla to sign Diego Carlos, the Premier League club announced Thursday.
The Brazilian center-back will cost Aston Villa £26 million, reports John Percy of The Telegraph.
Carlos is scheduled to travel to England on Thursday to undergo a medical and finalize personal terms.
The 29-year-old appeared in 136 matches over three seasons at Sevilla after joining the Spanish club for €15 million in 2019. He was a member of the side that won the Europa League in 2020.
Carlos will be Villa's third major signing in recent weeks after the club announced permanent agreements for Philippe Coutinho and midfielder Boubacar Kamara, the latter of whom signed a five-year contract from Marseille.
