Kobe was set to film 'Saved by the Bell' reboot before death

Kobe Bryant was slated to make a cameo in the "Saved by the Bell" revival series that premiered in 2020.

On the latest episode of the "Dare We Say" podcast, actresses Josie Totah and Alycia Pascual-Pena revealed Bryant was scheduled to film with them for the pilot episode of "Saved by the Bell" two days after he and his daughter Gianna died in a helicopter crash.

"He was gonna be on our show and I don't think anyone knows that. ... I remember the costume girls had gotten his sizes from his stylist, and he fully was on the call sheet," Totah said.

Pascual-Pena noted that "the energy on set (had) shifted greatly" as they wrapped up filming on the episode.

"I remember learning that he had passed through one of our best friends, Anjelika Washington, whom we love," Pascual-Pena said. "She called me specifically because she knew that I'd been talking about it for a month with her - that I was so excited to meet Kobe on set, that I can't believe that he was originally a fan of the first 'Saved by the Bell' and that he was excited to be on our show."

While Bryant never appeared in the original "Saved by the Bell," he did make cameos in two other popular 1990s television series: "Moesha" and "Sister, Sister."
