Paul attended Wake Forest University for two years before entering the 2005 NBA Draft, where the then-New Orleans Hornets selected him fourth overall. He enrolled at Winston-Salem State, a historically Black public university, in 2020 to finish his degree.
"Man it's cool, I'm excited," Paul said of his graduation following Thursday's game. "Long time coming."
Not only did Paul receive his diploma on Friday, but he also gifted each of his fellow graduates $2,500 as a special surprise, according to Marc J. Spears of ESPN and Andscape.
Here is more detail: Chris Paul is helping each WSSU graduate fund their Greenwood account by depositing $100 in the account and covering the $200 per month membership for ELEVATE for a full year. In total, this is a $2,500 value for each WSU December 2022 graduate.
