Duran ready to play in world's 'most important league' after joining Villa
London, Jan 23, 2023 (AFP) - Aston Villa completed the signing of Colombia striker Jhon Duran from Chicago Fire on Monday.
The Premier League club officially rubber-stamped the deal after agreeing a reported £14.75 million ($18.25 million) fee with Chicago last week.
The 19-year-old scored eight goals in 22 appearances for MLS side Chicago last season and also has three caps for Colombia.
Duran is Villa manager Unai Emery's second signing of the January transfer window following the arrival of Alex Moreno from Real Betis.
"Aston Villa is delighted to confirm Jhon Duran has completed a permanent transfer from Chicago Fire for an undisclosed fee," a Villa statement said.
Duran is hoping to make an immediate impact in the Premier League and he said: "I have all the desire in the world.
"I know it's the most important league in the world. It's the best league in the world.
"Lots of desire to work hard, give everything to the team and win. I'm hoping I can play soon."
