Kyrie's agent: Irving wants to stay with Nets, yet to have significant talks

Kyrie Irving is looking for a contract extension with the Brooklyn Nets, but no meaningful progress has occurred.

"I have reached out to the Nets regarding this (possible contract extension)," Shetellia Irving, the star guard's agent, told Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report. "We have had no significant conversations to date. The desire is to make Brooklyn home, with the right type of extension, which means the ball is in the Nets' court to communicate now if their desire is the same."

Irving is in the final season of a four-year, $136.4-million contract signed in 2019. He exercised his $36.5-million player option for this season before last offseason.

The 30-year-old is eligible for a maximum contract extension of four years and approximately $200 million.

Irving is averaging 26.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.0 assists this season for the Nets.

The Nets rank fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 29-17 record. Brooklyn takes on the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.
