Reynolds and McElhenney's Wrexham promoted to English 4th tier
Wrexham sealed promotion to League Two, the fourth tier of English football, with a 3-1 victory over Boreham Wood on Saturday.
Paul Mullin scored a second-half brace to confirm that the Welsh club - owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney - will compete in the English Football League next season for the first time since 2008.
After the two sides traded goals in the first half, Mullin broke the deadlock shortly after halftime with a beautifully struck shot that curled into the Boreham net.
Celebrations intensified in the 71st minute when Mullin scored his second to all but confirm the club's imminent return to League Two after a 15-year spell in the National League.
The win sparked wild celebrations at the Racecourse Ground where Reynolds and McElhenney were in attendance to watch the club they purchased in late 2020.
Both Reynolds and McElhenney were visibly emotional after the full-time whistle.
Wrexham have won a record 110 points this season, five more than the previous National League record. Second-place Notts County also beat the former record, set by Crawley Town in 2011, with 106 points.
