LeBron's 'Fab 5' teammates don't think he's done playing

LeBron James' former high school teammates don't believe the Los Angeles Lakers star is ready to walk away from basketball just yet.

Romeo Travis, Sian Cotton, Willie McGee, and Dru Joyce III, who along with James were known as the "Fab Five" at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, addressed his retirement rumors Wednesday while promoting their new film "Shooting Stars" on "Access Hollywood."

"In my opinion, I don't think he's retiring this year," Travis said.

Cotton didn't sound convinced that James is retiring this year, either, though he does think it's on his former teammate's mind.

"I hate to say this, and I hope not, but I think it is really on his mind, and I think he's really doing some soul-searching," Cotton said. "He's been giving so much to this game for so long, and I never thought I'd see the day where it's happening. He's been playing at such a high level for so long, but I think he is really considering maybe in the next ... well, who knows. But I think he is thinking about it."

Joyce added: "He's considering it. Do I think it's going to happen this year? No. But when you get this far in your career, it's a natural occurrence."

James was cryptic about his future following the Lakers' elimination from the playoffs, telling reporters that he had "a lot to think about" and wasn't sure if he'd be returning for a 21st NBA season.

The 38-year-old has two years remaining on his contract with the Lakers, including a player option for the 2024-25 season.
