Report: Chelsea reject Man United's 3rd bid for Mount
Chelsea have turned down Manchester United's third bid for Mason Mount, sources told The Athletic's David Ornstein.
Earlier Friday, United reportedly offered up to £55 million for the English midfielder, improving on the £50-million bid that Chelsea rejected earlier this week.
The Blues are apparently seeking £58 million plus £7 million in bonuses.
However, United told Chelsea they'd walk away if their latest offer wasn't accepted, BBC Sport's Simon Stone reports.
Mount appears ready to leave Chelsea despite the club's attempts to sign him to a new contract. The 24-year-old has just one year remaining on his current deal.
Chelsea could use the funds. The west London side has until June 30 to book any player sales against the estimated £500 million in transfer fees it spent during the 2022-23 fiscal year.
Chelsea have already allowed N'Golo Kante to leave on a free transfer and are reportedly in the process of selling goalkeeper Edouard Mendy to Al Ahli, Kalidou Koulibaly to Al Hilal, Kai Havertz to Arsenal, Hakim Ziyech to Al Nassr, and Mateo Kovacic to Manchester City.
Selling Mount - a homegrown player who came through Chelsea's academy - would allow Chelsea to record a significant profit.
He's scored 27 goals in 129 Premier League appearances since making his senior debut in August 2019.
