Report: Pulisic to reject Lyon, prefers AC Milan transfer
Christian Pulisic will reject a move to Lyon as he waits for AC Milan to strike a deal with Chelsea, sources told Julien Laurens of ESPN.
Lyon tabled an offer worth €25 million to sign the United States international Sunday, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic. It reportedly includes a substantial sell-on clause.
That easily outweighs the reported €14-million bid Milan previously submitted.
The Serie A side, though, has already agreed in principle on personal terms with the versatile American forward, with Lyon unable to match the Rossoneri's wage packet, Laurens notes.
Pulisic also wants to play Champions League football next season, which Lyon can't offer. Milan will compete in Europe's top club event after finishing fourth in Serie A this past campaign.
Milan, who just sold Sandro Tonali to Newcastle for a reported £60-million fee, should be able to return to the bargaining table and present an improved offer to Chelsea. Otherwise, they risk missing out on another transfer target after seeing Marcus Thuram join rivals Inter Milan last week.
Pulisic, who has a year left on his contract, has 26 goals in 145 appearances since joining Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in 2019. He struggled last season, however, scoring just once in 24 Premier League appearances.
He's been capped by the United States 60 times.
