Minshew slept on mattress he found beside a dumpster while at WSU
Despite earning millions throughout his football career, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew is incredibly frugal with his money.
A new feature by Ryan Hockensmith of ESPN shed some light on Minshew's spending habits, including the fact that he still drives the 2011 Acura that his parents gifted him for high school graduation.
Minshew also revealed that he spent just $15 furnishing his college apartment after transferring to Washington State from East Carolina in 2018. He paid $5 for a side table, $10 for a dresser, and found a mattress and box spring for free next to a dumpster.
"It's just to lay on and sleep," he said of the mattress.
Minshew played one season for the Cougars, setting Pac-12 and WSU single-season records in passing yards (4,779) and completions (468) that year.
The former sixth-round pick is entering his fifth season in the NFL and first with the Indianapolis Colts, who signed him to a one-year, $3.5-million deal in March.
