2 more women say Manchester United's Antony attacked them
Two more women said they were attacked by Manchester United winger Antony in interviews that were made public in Brazil on Thursday night.
Rayssa de Freitas, an influencer and law student, said she required hospital treatment after Antony assaulted her in May 2022, according to reports in Brazil relayed by The Telegraph's James Ducker. Brazilian newspaper Extra reports that De Freitas submitted a complaint to the Sao Paulo Civil Police on May 20, 2022.
Ingrid Lana, a banker, said she was attacked after resisting pressure to have sex with the player at his house in October 2022, BBC Sport reports. Lana was in England on a business trip.
"He tried to have a relationship with me, and I didn't want to," Lana told Record journalist Roberto Cabrini, according to The Telegraph. "He pushed me against the wall, and I hit my head. My purpose was just business. Arriving there at his invitation, I realized he had ulterior motives."
Antony was already the subject of police investigations in England and Brazil after Gabriela Cavallin, his former girlfriend, said he attacked her three times and threatened to kill her between June 2022 and May 2023.
Manchester United released a statement Wednesday insisting they were taking Cavallin's allegations "seriously." The team has not suspended Antony. The 23-year-old was dropped from the national team squad Monday after Cavallin's interview with Brazilian outlet UOL was published.
Cavallin said Antony wished she was dead in a WhatsApp message and that he threatened to kill her by throwing her out of a car. She also said she suffered a deep wound to her finger when he "tried to attack her face with a glass," had a breast implant damaged from a punch, and suffered a head injury.
The former Ajax player has denied Cavallin's accusations.
