Prescott was sedated for 11 hours during tattoo session
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott unveiled a massive new leg tattoo during the offseason, and it turns out he was unconscious for the entire procedure.
Prescott elected to be sedated for 11 hours while getting tattooed in March, according to Clarence E. Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. A team of medical professionals oversaw the procedure, but Prescott didn't tell Cowboys owner Jerry Jones or head coach Mike McCarthy about it until afterward.
"I was like, 'Whoa, what the ... happen to your leg,'" McCarthy said. "So he shows it to me. I'm like 'Jesus Christ, how long did that take?' … He showed me a video of it, and like, oh my God."
Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and running back Tony Pollard also got tattooed under sedation by the same artist, Andres Ortega, though neither was out for as long as Prescott, according to Hill.
Prescott's leg tattoo features an image of a moose as a tribute to his brother Jace, who died by suicide in 2020, along with a Pegasus in honor of his mother Peggy, who passed away from cancer in 2013. The tattoo also includes a black mamba for Kobe Bryant, a Jumpman logo for Michael Jordan, an image of Muhammad Ali, and more.
"People are gonna think it's crazy - and it is crazy," Prescott said. "I get that. But I'm crazy. That's my point is I am. I know I am. I'm not afraid of nothing."
