Rex Ryan: 'This is the most talented roster the Jets have ever had'
Former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is predicting a strong campaign from the 2023 squad.
Ryan, now an analyst for ESPN, stated on "Sunday NFL Countdown" that the Jets are his pick to win the Super Bowl this season.
"This is the most talented roster the Jets have ever had. Ever had," Ryan said. "I don't care - way more talent on defense than I had. And yeah, we led the league, I get it, but they still are more talented than that."
Ryan had particularly high praise for new Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
"The thing I love about Aaron Rodgers is that we're getting a crazy Aaron Rodgers," Ryan said. "Like, 'Oh yeah, I'm gonna show you how great I am.' I remember when Muhammad Ali said that - I'm seeing the same thing out of Aaron Rodgers."
Ryan coached the Jets for six seasons from 2009-14. His best campaign was in 2010 when he led the Jets to an 11-5 record and their second straight AFC Championship Game, which they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Jets open the 2023 season on Monday night against the Buffalo Bills.
