PG vows to 'dominate and destroy' opponents this season
Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George is putting his opponents on notice for the 2023-24 season.
In an interview with Deyscha Smith of Slam Magazine, George reiterated comments he made on a recent Twitch stream about how he plans to be on his "bully shit" this season and explained what that entails.
"I gotta hold myself accountable to that... Every night I'm on the floor, I'm there to dominate," the 33-year-old said. "Whether it's (being) more physical or going right at whoever I gotta go at, you're gonna feel me. I'm having that approach of every time I'm on the floor, I'm there to dominate and destroy you."
George said he made the initial statement in response to comments made about him by other players.
"Yeah, I mean, it was just a lot of unnecessary talk going around the league of, you know, guys feeling themselves and directing comments toward me that haven't done anything as well," he said.
"You know, this is the last couple years of my career, so it's all about legacy for me as well. And that's just my approach - I got to finish strong and go back to loving the game and loving to dominate. And again, that's just how I got to approach it. (If) I come up short, that's on me. But that's how I gotta approach it."
A knee injury limited George to 56 games last season. He averaged 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per contest while earning the eighth All-Star selection of his career.
