Lazard: Rodgers came into team room 'like Batman' to motivate Jets

Aaron Rodgers can no longer help the New York Jets on the field, but apparently he can still inspire his teammates with his superhero-like presence.

Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard said the quarterback - who was attending his first game since his season-ending Achilles injury - hyped up the team ahead of Sunday night's closely fought loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

"He just came into the team room like Batman, honestly," Lazard said. "And it was just kind of a Hollywood-esque moment of just, like, Aaron Rodgers, you know, appearing. Walking. I thought he was about to fly, honestly.

"But, yeah, like Zach (Wilson) and Randall (Cobb) said, it was just all about sticking together, believing in each other. There's gonna be rough times throughout the game, throughout the season. But just always have each other's back, and to believe."

Lazard also heaped praise on Wilson for almost outdueling Patrick Mahomes, saying the former No. 2 pick "played amazing" and "made big-time throws."

The Jets' comeback attempt fell short after a late fumble from Wilson, but Lazard said the loss falls on everyone's shoulders.

Wilson had struggled since taking over for Rodgers after the four-time MVP went down in the first game of the season, leading to significant criticism ahead of Week 4, including strong words from Jets legend Joe Namath.

But the 24-year-old produced the best performance of his career on Sunday night, completing 71.8% of his passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns to register a career-high 105.2 passer rating.
