Roberts confirms Betts will be Dodgers' everyday 2B in 2024
Mookie Betts is moving back to the infield on a full-time basis.
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed the 31-year-old will be the team's everyday second baseman to begin the 2024 campaign:
Roberts said he likes the idea of Betts starting at second base so he can "get more games out of him," even though the seven-time All-Star has won six Gold Gloves as an outfielder.
Betts appeared in 86 games at second and shortstop last season, making just five errors in 583 innings.
The Boston Red Sox originally drafted him as an infielder, and he played the early parts of his minor-league career at second base before transitioning to the outfield.
The Dodgers project to use James Outman, Chris Taylor, and Jason Heyward as their starting outfield next season, with Jonny DeLuca as an option.
